VALEDICTORY KIDDIES PARTY!

CBHS Matrics of 2009 has sadly left us on Friday (23 Oct) to prepare for their exams that started this Monday. After a very inspiring Valedictory day the RCL presented them, together with their teachers, with a lunch, catered by Ardi. We created an awesome party room for the lunch, and the theme was Kiddies Party! Last days of childhood before starting in the adult world! View the pictures ‹‹here››

FOURTH TERM

The fourth term is off to a busy start with summer sports starting and the matrics only 3 weeks away from writing their final exams. Gook luck to all of you.

The RCL has compiled all the results of the tuckshop survy, now presenting it to our governors and hoping for a new and improved tuckshop at the beginning of nexst year – clearly shown by the results, that one is desperately needed.

We are also presenting the winner of the recycling competition on Friday the 16th of October. Winners will receive Vida e Caffé gift vouchers as well as food vouchers for Pick'n'Pay.

The prefects are currently working on getting supporters jerseys made, for all who wish to wear them to mainly sporting events. The jerseys may be worn by parents, past pupils or even teachers. The jerseys will show off our school and give us a good all round image to visitors.

The RCL, excluding the matrics, are also busy planning an end of year function (as a present) for all Grade 12's, before they leave. This event looks to be promising and all parents are welcome too!

So, good luck to all for the 4th term. Any queries or comments, feel free to write on our blog.

All our love, the RCL.

THIRD TERM

The third term is well underway with a busy schedule as susual. This week (24 - 28 August) we are having out annual Interhouse Winter Sports competition. Sports such as Junior and Senior Netball, Hockey, Soccer, Rugby and Squash are being played throughout this week with only a few points separating Orange and Red, closely followed by Blue and Yellow along with Purple and Green. it is a fun filled week with high competitive spirits for that House Cup!

Our matrics also start their prelim examinatins on monday 31 August. A word of luck goes out to them for the following 3 weeks of hard work and studying.

This Saturday (29 August) CBHS are hosting their past pupils matches. With Hockey, Rugby and Netball underway – we encourage all parents, pupils and friends to come and join in the spirit.

The RCL's tuckshop survey is currently underway. This is in hope of a new tuckshop with a larger variety, lower prices and sticking to our healthy eating policy. The new tuckshop should be implemented at the beginning of 2010. Once run through our Governors of course...

Our recycling competitiong is ending this Friday (28 August) clearly with the overall winner being announced then. Results will follow.

Any queries or comments, feel free wo weite on our blog. Other than that, have a brilliant third term everyone!

GOOD LUCK WITH EXAMS

The RCL have been keeping busy with a number of new ideas in the pipeline, recycling collection (which is going well – with Red and Orange in the lead) and have also recently launched our mini project for this term. We have decided to take on something small as the term is already jam-packed with exams, being less than a week away.

This project involves buying a new microwave for the school as the previous one has 'given up'! The way in which we are raising money for this project, is by every single learner in the school bringing R1 each. This way the amount raised should be between R500 – R600, possibly more if teachers contribute offering more than enough money for a brand new microwave. This was launched in Monday's Assembly (25 May).

Two leaders from the RCL, Nicole Soekoe and Charotte Saunders, along with two prefects, Kate McKay and Dineo Mklalo, attended the Students Representative Council Leadership Forum at Springfield on Tuesday 5 May. Accompanied by Mr Cunliffe, we, along with 200 other learners, attended this forum as the youth and future leaders of South Africa. Schools such as Bishops, Sacs, Rustenberg, Herschel and Westerford attended the forum – all for one reason:
To discuss and motivate topics we feel everyone is either directly or indirectly affected by and to compile a declaration to be sent to Youth parliament, for possible solutions to these problems.

Some of the very many topics covered were, injustices of our past, the privileged versus underprivileged, social ills such as crime, violence, poverty and corruption as well as community upliftment projects. many different opinions and thought provoking topics were covered, with Camps Bay having a great deal of input into discussions and having some great feedback from Premier Helen Zille, who initially introduced the forum.

Followed by hours of brainstorming and discussion was free Kauai, which we took full advantage of.

The forum had ended by 10pm and our Youth Declaration was compiled. it has now been sent to Youth Parliament and we await feedback on how our ideas compiled, will be carried forward.

This Leadership Forum was a great learning experience for all four of us learners but certainly would not have been possible without Mrs Cronje and Mr Cunliffe.

So, keep logging on and tuning up for updates on the RCL and good luck to Camps Bay High School pupils for the exams, just around the corner!

INTERHOUSE CHOIR COMPETITION

The next up and coming Interhouse Event is our Choir Competition. Each house has to choose their own song and surprise the school with their choice. This promises to be a very entertaining as well as exciting event. Update will follow soon.
